X32
Brass (20%Zn)

Composition: Cu-20%Zn.
Processing: Hot extrusion and cold drawing. Annealing (600ºC - 1 h).
Etching: 90 s immersion FeCl3 in alcoholic solution.
This is the same alloy as X31 plus annealing at 600ºC for 1 h. This treatment recrystallizes the material, resulting in new strain-free grains that are equiaxial and with straight twins. Similar to other materials in this collection, grains show different tonality depending on the amount of reflected light.
