Carmen Berlinches Ramos es doctora en Estudios Árabes y Andalusíes por la UCM, con una tesis titulada "El Dialecto Árabe de los Jóvenes de Damasco: Estudio Lingüístico y  Análisis de Textos" (2012). Entre 2009 y 2011, fue investigadora asociada en el Institut Français du Proche-Orient en Damasco (Siria), donde realizó gran parte de su tesis doctoral. Durante los años 2012-2013 fue profesora e investigadora postdoctoral en el Departamento de Estudios Orientales de la Universidad de Viena (Austria) y del 2019 al 2021 profesora ayudante doctora en el área de Estudios Árabes e Islámicos de la Universidad de Zaragoza. En 2021 se incorporó al área de Estudios Árabes e Islámicos de la UCM. Ha participado en diferentes proyectos de investigación nacionales e internacionales, como “Sociolectos femeninos en el mundo arabófono: especificidad y variación del Magreb al Mashreq”, del Programa Estatal I+D+i, y “Viennese Corpus of Arabic Varieties (VICAV)”, dirigido por el Departamento de Estudios Orientales de la Universidad de Viena y el Instituto de Corpus Lingüísticos y Tecnología (ICLTT) de Austria.

Carmen Berlinches Ramos holds a PhD in Arabic and Andalusi Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM-2012), with a dissertation on the variety spoken by the youth in Damascus. Between 2009 and 2011, she was a research associate at the Institut Français du Proche-Orient in Damascus (Syria), where she conducted a significant part of her doctoral research. From 2012 to 2013, she was a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of Vienna (Austria), and from 2019 to 2021, she was an assistant professor in the area of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Zaragoza. In 2021, she joined the Arabic and Islamic Studies section at UCM. She has participated in various national and international research projects, including Female Sociolects in the Arabic-Speaking World: Specificity and Variation from the Maghreb to the Mashreq (R&D&I Program) and Viennese Corpus of Arabic Varieties (VICAV), led by the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of Vienna and the Austrian Institute for Corpus Linguistics and Text Technology (ICLTT).

 

Líneas de investigación/Research Areas

Su principal línea de investigación es la dialectología árabe, con un especial foco en la variedad vernácula de Damasco y otras zonas urbanas del Levante árabe. Otras áreas de estudio que ha explorado incluyen la sociolingüística, la lexicografía y la paremiología árabe.

Her primary research area is dialectology, with a particular focus on the vernacular variety of Damascus and other urban areas of the Levant. She has also explored additional fields of study, including sociolinguistics, lexicography, and paremiology.
