CirCoCreation workshop on living lab methodology: a power for real world collaboration, KU Leuven, 3 April 2025

With the aim to provide an understanding of Living Labs and their benefits, CircoCreation has organized this workshop in Leuven last 3 April 2025.

Living labs foster social and/or technological innovation and address wicked problems. The power of real-world collaboration. Different types of living labs were analyzed. The main characteristics of a living lab are active user involvement, co-creation, real-time setting, multistakeholder participation, orchestration and multi-method approach.

Two living labs (LL) are involved in CirCoCreation project Leuven and Sundsvall with two different approaches, Leuven LL is focused on the reuse of urban construction wastes and Sundsvall LL in the development of more sustainable construction materials. The purposes of the two lining labs and the context were critically analyzed by the participants. Macro and micro parameters have been analyzed.

The second part of the workshop was dedicated to monitoring, evaluation and learning. During the discussions was highlight the important to move from monitoring to control towards monitoring to learn the why?, in this context lessons from Leuven experiences were shared within the consortium.
