Claims Commission
The Claims Commission is a commission established in article 66.2 of the Organic Law of Universities and in articles 93 and 108.5 of the UCM Statutes. It is responsible for resolving claims submitted against the resolution of the commissions of the different entrance applications, both for bodies of teaching staff and positions of teaching and investigating staff.
As stipulated in article 41.2.g) of our Statutes, the Claims Commission consists of seven active University Professors from various knowledge areas, with extensive teaching and investigative experience, chosen by the Senate for a period of four years.
This Commission will examine the case relating to the applications and later hear from the members of the Commission who assessed the applications and the proposed candidates, ratifying, or not, the claim within three months. If the case is not ratified, the case will be regressed until the moment the defect arose, forcing the Commission of the application to formulate a new proposal. (Article 93.4 of the Statutes)
The resolutions of the Claims Commission will be ratified by the Rector, whose resolutions surpass the administrative route and will be directly challengeable before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction, in accordance with the provisions in its regulatory law. (Article 93.5 of the Statutes)
