In exceptional circumstances determined by the Academic Committee responsible for the doctoral program (participation of companies in the research, the existence of confidentiality agreements with companies or the possibility of generating patents on part of the content of the thesis), there are procedures to ensure the non-publication of these aspects in the presentation and defense of the doctoral thesis, as well as in the archiving of the thesis in open electronic format in institutional repositories.

The document "Autorización, defensa y publicación de tesis doctorales sometidas a un proceso de confidencialidad" establishes the procedure to be followed during the presentation and defense of the thesis, as well as the subsequent provisional limitation of public access to the thesis.

• Both the external evaluators and the members of the tribunal must sign the "Confidentiality agreement evaluator - committe member".
• Those attending the defense ceremony must also sign a "Compromiso de confidencialidad  para asistentes al acto de defensa doctoral".
