A doctoral candidate wishing the authorisation for the deposit, submission, defence and publication of their doctoral thesis to be subject to a confidentiality procedure due to the participation of companies in the programme, the existence of confidentiality agreements with companies, or the possibility of generating patents must follow the established procedure, which can be consulted at the following link (Procedure).

Together with the application (Form 065), the candidate must submit a document signed by the company certifying that the thesis is subject to a confidentiality agreement. This will enable the Academic Committee of the programme to authorise the processing of the thesis under this procedure and ensure that confidentiality is maintained throughout the internal assessment conducted by the Academic Committee and during the thesis defence.

Once the doctoral thesis has been defended, an embargo will be requested from the UCM Library so that the thesis is not made openly available in the e-prints repository.

In addition, the candidate must provide a copy of the thesis in which the sections subject to confidentiality and industrial data protection rights have been omitted.

 

LIMITATION OF PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE THESIS IN E-PRINTS (EMBARGO)

In exceptional circumstances determined by the Academic Committee responsible for the programme—including, but not limited to, the participation of companies in the research, the existence of confidentiality agreements with companies, the possibility of generating patents covering part of the thesis content, or the possibility of future publications—the doctoral candidate may request a temporary restriction of public access to the thesis, or to specific parts thereof, in the institutional e-prints repository. The embargo application will apply exclusively to the publication of the thesis and must be submitted to the UCM Library once the thesis has been defended.
