Course Details
The Advanced Course in Literature is specially designed for advanced level Spanish students, graduates and teachers of Spanish. Its aim is to present and study various monographic topics in Spanish and Latin American literature.
The course can be either 80 or 40 hours, distributed in consecutive weeks in July. Spanish Literature classes will be held for four hours a day.
Spanish Course Contents
Week 1
- The literature and theatre of the Republic in the Civil War (Prof. Emilio Peral Vega).
- Between Thalia and Eros: the sensual lyric in the Golden Age (Prof. Jesús Ponce Cárdenas).
Week 2
- Latest trends in Hispano-American theatre (Prof. Cristina Bravo Rozas).
- The world of theatre in the Spain of the Golden Age (Francisco Sáez Raposo).
Week 3
- Life in poetry and poetry in life. Some classic poems of the 20th century and poetic workshop (Profª Laura Arroyo).
- Women and writing in the 16th and 17th centuries. From the mystical to the profane (Profª Esther Borrego Gutiérrez).
Week 4
- Rock, literature, comics and art of the Madrid ‘Movida’ (Prof. José Luis Ocasar).
- Miguel de Cervantes and Don Quixote: two adventurous lives (Profª: Ana Martínez Pereira).
Teaching Staff
All teachers are university graduates and specialists in Spanish language teaching.
Test Level
No specific level test is taken.
Course Certificate
The diploma is awarded upon successful completion of the course, which requires passing the exams and meeting the regular class attendance requirements.
