Oferta de Contrato Predoctoral

El Grupo de Física de Materiales Complejos (GFMC) de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) oferta un contrato, co-financiado por un proyecto de Consolidación Investigadora (AEI), para la realización de una tesis doctoral durante un periodo de 4 años.

El trabajo se centrará en la caracterización experimental de intercaras rotadas de óxidos correlacionados; un tema de vanguardia en la intersección de la física de materiales cuánticos y la ingeniería de intercaras [Nature 626, 529 (2024)]. La/el candidat@ se integrará en un grupo de trabajo totalmente equipado en el área de la materia condensada, disponiendo de sistemas de crecimiento y caracterización funcional y financiado con proyectos europeos, nacionales y regionales. 

Se destacan las siguientes técnicas y habilidades que se adquirirán para su realización de forma autónoma:

  • Crecimiento de películas finas mediante ablación láser (PLD) y/o pulverización catódica (sputtering).
  • Fabricación de micro y nanoestructuras en sala blanca mediante litografía óptica y electrónica (EBL), así como mediante haz de iones focalizado (FIB).
  • Caracterización de las propiedades magnéticas y de transporte eléctrico (AC y DC) mediante SQUID, FMR y criostatos con alto campo magnético.
  • Adquisición y control de datos mediante LabVIEW o Python.

      quantum solid-state theory

    • atomic/molecular physics,

    • classical electrodynamics,

  • experience in numerical simulations or programming,

  • strong oral and written communication skills in English.

PhD position funded by AEI agency (Spanish Government)

TOPIC: Magnetic-based nanomaterials for photothermal therapy and photoacoustic imaging.

 

A PhD position is available at the ‘Laboratory of Nanostructured and Nanocomposite Materials -LM2N’  of the University of Barcelona (UB).

The position is in the framework of the project “Versatile magnetic-based nanoplatforms for high contrast detection of deep cancer tumours (DeepTUMO)”. This is a very multidisciplinary project which will be developed in close collaboration with outstanding researchers from IMB-CNM-CSIC and Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) and CNRS (Paris).

The project mainly tackles the synthesis of magneto-semiconductor hybrid nanomaterials with good optical absorption at the NIR-II region for photothermal therapy and photoacoustic imaging.

Duration: 2 years funded + application for a PhD fellowship.

Start date: 1st July 2025.
