STRONG-2020 “The strong interaction at the frontier of knowledge: fundamental research and applications” has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 824093.
Overview
STRONG2020 is a European network dedicated to the study of the Strong Interactions, which are described by Quantum Chromodynamics. This is one of the known fundamental interactions, which is responsible for the confinement of quarks and gluons inside hadrons. The aim of this network is to foster the collaboration between theoretical and experimental physicists for analyzing and interpreting the new generation of dedicated international experiments in Hadron Physics, whose goal is to understand the mechanism of confinement as well as the structure of hadrons, their interactions and their spectroscopy.
IPARCOS contribution
The UCM is a beneficiary institution and we take part as partners in two Joint Research Activities (JRA). On JRA4 we explore the internal structure of hadrons by means of the transverse distribution functions of their components with the primary goal of obtaining the 3D structure of the nucleon in momentum space. On JRA7, which constitutes the HadronSpectroscopy network, we aim at describing the spectrum of hadronic states and their interactions using effective theories and dispersive formalisms.
