Decision Aid Models and Data Scince for Logistics, Disaster Management and Social Analysis (DecData-Humlog)
Brief description
DECDATA-HUMLOG focuses on the development of new mathematical models for decision support, with special emphasis in applications to Logistics, Disaster Management, Sustainable Development and Social Networks.
The mathematical framework is Operational Research and Data Science. Among the models and methods used and developed are Integer Programming, Stochastic Programming, Metaheuristics, Multicriteria Decision Making, Decision with Uncertainty and Risk, Game Theory, Fuzzy Logic, Machine Learning... applied to problems of planning, location, transportation, distribution, networks, assessment, forecasting and classification...
These models are developed for applications in several sectors, as, relief operations, especially in developing countries; wildfires prevention and response; transportation and location; images classification; social networks; and sustainable development.

News
- December 18 2024. A contract between UCM and INDRA Sistemas, led by IMI members Bibiana Granda Chico, Teresa Ortuño Sánchez, and Begoña Vitoriano Villanueva, has been signed and is now in progress. The company INDRA Sistemas has developed Faster Than Real Time (FTRT) simulation models within the framework of Operational Analysis, which includes the simulation of stochastic models as well as other mathematical technologies such as classification or decision models. The IMI team will provide a consultancy service to review these systems, diagnose and specify potential improvements that could be incorporated, and, if applicable, define future lines of collaboration with the company.
- 27 November 2023. Four IMI members and four members of its Scientific Committee are in the lists of the most highly cited scientists worldwide, published by Stanford University. The selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score or a percentile rank of 2% or above in the sub-field. The four IMI members mentioned are Juan Luis Vázquez Suárez, Julián López-Gómez, Jesús Ildefonso Díaz Díaz and Francisco Javier Montero de Juan. Also appearing in the same lists are IMI Scientific Committee members Paul Rabinowitz, Simon Donaldson, Herbert Amann and Dikran Dikranjan.
