1) Palabras del Director
 

Dear collegues:

It is a pleasure to announce the celebration of the First IMI Fast Integration Contest in collaboration with the student organization Proyecto Cometas, scheduled for April 7 and 9, 2025. This contest is aimed at UCM undergraduate students with the goal of encouraging the study of antiderivatives through challenge and competition. All information about the contest will be available on its website: https://blogs.mat.ucm.es/cir-imi/. This project was close to being carried out in 2020 at the initiative of our former Director, Ángel Ramos, but the lockdown forced us to postpone the event. Similar competitions are held at other universities, notably the Annual MIT Integration Bee, which celebrated its 44th edition last January. We trust that this contest will be well received by our students at UCM.

 2) IMI News

 

5 de marzo. Ha tenido lugar la sesión científica de ingreso como Académica Correspondiente de la investigadora del IMI Isabel Molina Peralta en la Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales de España. En el acto, Isabel ha impartido la conferencia titulada Estimación en áreas pequeñas. Un ejemplo de cómo “la unión hace la fuerza". A la finalización del evento se ha hecho entrega a la nueva Académica del diploma acreditativo de miembro de la corporación. Esta ceremonia culmina un proceso que tuvo un momento importante el pasado 27 de noviembre con el nombramiento de Isabel como Académica Correspondiente por parte del pleno de la RAC. Desde el IMI aplaudimos con entusiasmo este magnífico logro y damos la más enérgica enhorabuena a Isabel.

The Wall

From congruence of the rectangles it follows that the shaded rectangle is in fact a square. Now the middle square diagonal can be extended to meet the lower right red vertex.

The quadrilateral formed by the four red vertices is seen to have two opposing right angles, so it must be cyclic.
