1) Palabras del Director

Dear Collegues:

I am pleased to introduce to you a new collaborator for the Math Art section of El Boletín del IMI. Michele Morrone lives in Bologna, Italy, and is a software engineer with over 30 years of passionate experience in graphical and 3D software development. He has also worked at the Institute of Marine Geology (IGM) of the National Research Council (CNR) in Bologna and at various universities, including Florence and Bologna.
His passion for mathematics and computers began at a very young age. While reading a supplement from his father's "Scientific American" publication, he discovered the Mandelbrot set for the first time. That reading profoundly influenced his life and studies. It was 1987, and he still has that magazine.

I am convinced that you will all enjoy Michele's creations.

Thank you for your creativity, Michele!

 2) IMI News

February 11 2024. IMI researcher Begoña Vitoriano participated in a round table discussion on women's scientific careers at Nebrija University on February 11th. The event was preceded by the screening of the film "The Marguerite Theorem," whose pre-premiere in Madrid was attended by several IMI members in September 2024. The screening of the film and the subsequent debate were part of the activities organized by Nebrija University to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the UN establishing February 11th as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a date aimed at, according to Secretary-General António Guterres, "paving a path for the careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that women and girls deserve and our world needs."
