Dear Colleagues,
It is a pleasure to introduce you to a new collaborator, author of the piece of art that you may see below in the "Math Art" section.
Sinem Onaran
Sinem Onaran is a mathematician, and a young professor at Hacettepe University, in Ankara. She received her Ph.D. in mathematics in 2009. Her research interests lie in geometric topology, particularly in contact and symplectic geometry. She has received awards in the field of mathematics including an outstanding young scientist award
I hope you enjoy her artworks.
Thanks a lot Sinem!

EACA2024 Conference
El Escorial (Madrid) from June 24 to 26, 2024
The next EACA meeting (EACA 2024) will take place in San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid), on June 24-26, 2024 and will be hosted by the "Real Colegio María Cristina". The present EACA edition is a satellite conference of the 9th European Congress of Mathematics (9ECM) and is co-organized with IMI (Interdisciplinar Institute of Mathematics of UCM).
The EACA network places special emphasis on promoting and encouraging the participation of young researchers. EACA network will offer a number of grants to cover accommodation expenses for those youngest participants (students, PhD students or recent doctors) with no other financial support. The candidates must send an email to Ana Romero (ana.romero@unirioja.es), including a short motivation letter and the email address of a mathematician that can act as referee for the application.

6) Math Puzzle
Puzzle sent by Kjartan Poskitt.
The solution will be provided in the next issue of Boletin del IMI.
Solution to last week's Math Puzzle, sent by Rik Tangerman and published on issue No. 132 of the Boletín del IMI:
Tympanum II
The angle α is 36°.
The crux of this solution is to mirror the pentagon in the side BC as shown. From reflection symmetry we deduce that |JF|=|DF|=|GF|. We can thus draw the circle through J, D and G with F as centre.
EJ is easily seen to be a straight line. Moreover, triangle DJC is isosceles with top angle 144°. Now, ∠GJD=∠CJD= 18°. From the inscribed angle theorem we get that α=36°.
