CE 30 (Módulo de Profundización en Literatura en Lengua Inglesa, Materia principal 21). [El Teatro del Siglo XX en Estados Unidos; El Teatro del Siglo XX en Gran Bretaña]. El alumno deberá ser capaz de identificar y analizar los elementos estéticos que conforman la tradición dramática contemporánea en lengua inglesa, emitir juicios críticos sobre dicha tradición en relación con sus contextos históricos y valorar su influencia en el presente contexto sociocultural.
CE 30 - (Module of In-depth study of Literature in English, Core Subject 21) [Twentieth Century Drama in the United States; Twentieth Century Drama in Great Britain].
The student will be able to identify and analyze the aesthetic elements shaping contemporary drama in the English language, to express critical judgments on that tradition in relation to its historical contexts, and to evaluate its influence on the contemporary socio-cultural context.

La asignatura de teatro del siglo XX in lengua inglesa literatura inglesa ofrece una introducción a las principales obras, autores y períodos cronológicos más importantes, considerando el contexto cultural en que se desenvuelven. Persigue los siguientes objetivos específicos: Proporcionar al estudiante 1. Conocimiento de los procesos generales de creación, recepción y difusión de la producción literaria 2. Conocimiento de los principales géneros y corrientes literarias así como de obras y autores más relevantes.3. claves culturales básicas en el desarrollo de la historia literaria 4. una metodología de análisis e interpretación aplicada a la historia literatura en general y a la producción literaria del período en particular. 5. Ayudar al desarrollo de la capacidad de lectura crítica, analítica y expositiva.

The subject of Twentieth Century Drama in English offers an introduction to major works and authors, as well as most important chronological periods, considering the cultural context in which they unfold. It pursues the following objectives: Offer students 1. Knowledge of the general processes of creation, reception and dissemination of literary production 2. Knowledge of the main genres and literary trends as well as works and most relevant authors. 3. basic cultural keys in the development of literary history 4. a methodology of analysis and interpretation applied to the history of literature in general and to the literary production of the particular period. 5. Help develop their critical, analytical, expository and reading abilities

 

El curso ayuda a los estudiantes a: 1. Considerar la literatura como un reflejo de su entorno cultural; 2. Examinar las obras literarias desde varios puntos de vista; 3. Examinar y analizar los diversos elementos de una obra literaria; 4.Usar conceptos básicos y la terminología específica del análisis literario; 5. Reconocer los temas principales en la obra literaria, explorar sus implicaciones e identificar sus suposiciones básicas; 6. Analizar estructura: comprender cómo la forma contribuye al significado; 7. Reconocer la necesidad de evidencia literaria para apoyar las opiniones e ideas sobre el trabajo literario; 8. Expresar opiniones y respuestas a la literatura de manera clara y efectiva en formato oral y escrito.

The course seeks to help students to: 1.Consider literary works as a reflection of their cultural milieu; 2. Examine literary works from various vantage points; 3. Examine and analyse the various elements of literary works; 4. Use basic concepts and specific terminology to literary analysis; 5. Recognise major themes in literary works, explore their implications, and identify their basic assumptions; 6. Analyse structure: understand how form contributes to meaning; 7. Recognise the need for literary evidence to support opinions and ideas regarding literary work; 8. Express opinions and responses to literature clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

La evaluación tiene carácter continuo. Se establecerá según la media ponderada de tres parámetros distintos, a saber:
- asistencia, participación y trabajo semanal del alumno (valor ponderable en torno al 20% de la calificación final),
- evaluación de las competencias prácticas del alumno a través de trabajos escritos, presentaciones en clase y/o exámenes parciales (valor ponderable en torno al 30% de la calificación final)
- examen final de la asignatura (valor ponderable en torno al 50% de la calificación final).

Se aplicará el mismo sistema de evaluación en la convocatoria extraordinaria.

The evaluation process is ongoing, and it will be determined based on a weighted average of three distinct factors:
- the student's attendance, participation, and weekly work (accounting for approximately 20% of the final grade)
- the assessment of practical skills through written work, class presentations, and/or mid-term exams (making up around 30% of the final grade)
- and the final exam for the subject (comprising approximately 50% of the final grade).

The same evaluation system will be applied in the extraordinary call.
