CE 10 (Módulo de Lengua y lingüística inglesa, Materia principal 8: Descripción y Análisis de la Lengua Inglesa). [Fonética y Fonología Inglesas; Sintaxis del Inglés; Semántica del Inglés]. El alumno deberá tener conocimientos de lengua inglesa en cuanto a las distintas unidades lingüísticas (fonema, morfema, palabra, sintagma, oración y discurso conectado) y en sus distintos niveles (pronunciación, entonación, sintaxis, léxico, coherencia y adecuación al propósito comunicativo).

CE 10 – (Module of English language and linguistics, Core subject 8: Description and analysis of the English language). [English phonetics and phonology; English syntax; semantics of English].
The student will acquire knowledge of the different linguistic units in English (phoneme, morpheme, word, phrase, clause and sentence and connected discourse) and its different levels (pronunciation, intonation, syntax, lexis, coherence and use in communicative purposes).

Este curso se centra en la descripción formal de la oración simple en inglés, sus constituyentes y los grupos de palabras que los integran y en una breve caracterización de las unidades complejas de las que aquella forma parte. 

This course is intended to provide a formal description of the simple clause in English, its constituents and the word groups comprised in them, together with a brief account of the complex units in which the simple clause can be integrated.

Introducción. Unidades sintácticas y su jerarquía. Categorías y funciones. Tipos de palabras y morfemas. 
La estructura del sintagma. Los sintagmas nominal, adjectival, adverbial, verbal y preposicional. Sus modificadores, el determinante. Verbos léxicos y auxiliares. Introducción al tiempo, aspecto y modalidad; la pasiva. 
La estructura de la cláusula. Tipos de cláusulas y oraciones. El sujeto, el operador y el predicador. Los objetos y complementos predicativos; otro tipo de complementos. Elementos de la cláusula sintácticamente opcionales. 
La expansión de las unidades lingüísticas. Coordinación. Subordinación. Cláusulas incrustadas.

La evaluación se llevará a cabo de forma continua. Del 60 al 70% de la evaluación recaerá en la realización de pruebas específicas, que pueden incluir un examen final. Del 30 al 40% de la evaluación se basará en la realización de actividades prácticas en el aula y otras de trabajo personal fuera del aula en las que se evaluará la corrección y eficacia con que se llevan a cabo, la participación activa de los alumnos en las clases y las tutorías y, en su caso, las presentaciones en clase.

This course will be evaluated following a continuous assessment. From 60 to 70% of the evaluation (final grade) will be based on the student’s performance in some specific tests, such as a final exam. Other activities counting towards the final grade (30 to 40%) will be practical activities and the correction and efectiveness with which these are undertaken, the active participation of the student in class and tutorials and, if applicable, oral presentations in class.
