Abstract

 

This story narrates the moment when Nathan rebukes King David his adultery with Bathsheba made worse by the assassination of her husband, Uriah the Hittite. At the beginning of the story, Nathan approaches David and tells him the parable of the rich man and the poor man. In this parable, a rich man took away the only ewe lamb that a poor man had so that he could feed it to a traveller, even though he had plenty of sheep and cattle of his own. After David heard this story he burned with anger and he said that the rich man should be punished. Nathan said to him that he was that man. And after that God said to him (through Nathan) that the sword would never depart from King David’s house, and that the child that he had with Bathsheba would die on the seventh day after his birth.


Resumen

 

Natán, empleando una parábola, reprocha al rey David su adulterio con Betsabé, agravado por el asesinato del marido de ésta, Urías el Hitita. La parábola explica como un hombre rico le robó la única oveja que poseía un hombre pobre para dársela de comer a una visita inesperada, a pesar de que el hombre rico tenía una gran cantidad de ganado “lanar y vacuno”. David, al escuchar esta historia, se encolerizó y dijo que había que castigar al hombre rico. Natán le contestó ¡Tú eres ese hombre!, y a continuación le comunicó su castigo, Dios haría que el desastre se cerniera sobre su casa y le quitaría la vida al hijo que éste había tenido con Betsabé llegado el séptimo día después de su nacimiento.
