Pedro Gomis (1948-2019)
Pedro GOMIS BLANCO’s academic background and teaching activity at the Complutense University of Madrid led him to become an expert in French language, culture and literature, as we can see in this selection of biographical information.
1948: He is born in Madrid on 6 November. His parents, Ángel and Maruja, are booksellers.
1952: His brother Alberto is born on 12 May, 1952 in Madrid.
1972: He graduates in Philosophy and Arts (sub-section of French Philology) at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
1972-1973: He begins teaching at the Faculty of Philology of the UCM, as Assistant Professor, to teach the subject Historical Grammar of the French Language.
1973-1990: He works at the Faculty of Philology, UCM, in different professional categories (Associate Professor, Lecturer in charge of courses, Collaborating Professor, Assistant Professor, Faculty Tenured Professor).
1976: He marries Consuelo Moreno, lecturer of German Philology at the UCM, on 8 April, 1976 in Madrid.
1980: His only daughter, Almudena, is born in Madrid on 16 April.
1982-1996: He helds various management positions in the Faculty of Philology of the UCM, (Vice-Secretary of the Faculty of Philology, 1982-1988; Vice-Dean, 1988-1996; Coordinator of the Language Institute, 1985-1990).
1985-2001: Head of Studies of the Courses for Foreigners of the UIMP (Santander Campus).
1990: He is promoted to the position of tenured Lecturer of French Philology for the Faculty.
1990-1994: Coordinator for the Courses Spanish for Foreigners in the Arts Faculties of the UCM.
1991-1997: Lecturer of new technologies applied to language teaching at various centres, such as the UCM (I and II Course for Specialist Teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) (qualification of the UCM , 1991-1992), at the UIMP (Santander), at the EOI in Baracaldo (Vizcaya).
1994: Director of the V International Congress of ASELE (UIMP, Santander, 29, 30 September and 1 October 1994. Co-editor of the Proceedings).
1995: He obtains his PhD in French Philology, with a doctoral thesis directed by Jesús Cantera Ortiz de Urbina.
2001-2003: Lecturer in the Doctoral Programme of the Dept. of French Philology (UCM), in summer courses (I Summer School of Aranjuez, I Complutense Summer School, Summer Course in El Escorial, Summer School of Madrid) on the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.
2004-2005: Member of UCM Research Group 930235 Phraseology and Paremiology (PAREFRAS).
2005: Member of UCM Research Group 930824 Enunciation and pragmatic semantics of French.
2005-2008: Lecturer in the PhD in phraseology and paremiology (UCM), organised by the PAREFRAS Group.
2007: Visiting Professor at the University of Clermont-Ferrand (France).
2013: On retirement, he is appointed Honorary Professor in the Department of French Philology at the UCM.
2019: He dies in Madrid on 19 August 2019.
