Research profile
In recent years, the group of José L. Segura has defined and established the following fields as targets
- Synthesis and applications of covalent organic frameworks by dynamic covalent bond formation
- Syntheses of molecular and macromolecular π-conjugated systems including (i) nanosized π-conjugated oligomers and dendrimers, (ii) functional conjugated polymers, (iii) n-Dopable organic materials, (iv) functionalized graphene derivatives
- Electrochemical and photophysical characterization of π-conjugated systems
Manifold national and international cooperations enable us to implement the newly developed materials in the fabrication of field effect transistors, organic light emitting diodes, organic solar cells, organic lasers and batteries among others.

- Since 1995, responsible professor of different courses in the field of Organic Chemistry corresponding to Degrees in Chemistry, Biology and Chemical Engineering in the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
- Since 2003 responsible Professor of courses on Advanced Polymers and Macrmolecular Chemistry of the Doctorate Program in Organic Chemistry and Máster of Organic Chemistry of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
- Participation as professor in the Máster Erasmus Mundus entitled “Molecular nano- and biophotonics for telecommunications and biotechnologies (MONABIPHOT)” teaching the subjects “Advanced Polymers: Preparation, Characterization and Applications” and “Organic Materials and Nanoscience” (2006-2018)
- Participation in the subject “Temas Actuales en Ciencia de Materiales” corresponding to the Doctorate program in Materials Science of the Universidad de Alicante with three seminars in the field of Organic Solar Cells (2006- 2007).
- Professor of the Spanish Workshops on Organic Materials hold in El Escorial (1999), Peñíscola (2001), Cartagena (2003), Estepona (2007), Peñíscola (2008), Elche (2009), Peñafiel (2010), Castellón (2011), El Escorial (2012), almagro (2013), Torremolinos (2018).
