Bachelor (2010) and PhD in Geography (2019) completed at University Complutense of Madrid (UCM). She has additionally earned two Master's degrees in Teaching (Hospitality and Tourism) and in Sustainable Development at the University Montpellier 3 (UM3). Of which, the later dissertation served as the basis for her doctoral research in tourism development of rural areas supervised by María García Hernández (UCM) and Pascal Chevalier (UM3). She is currently a member of the research group "Tourism, Heritage and Development" (UCM-93117) at UCM (since 2015).

Her research aligns with three major topics.

-       Tourism in rural areas and local development planning.

-       Urban tourism, especially the touristification processes.

-       Tourism pedagogy and education.

In her PhD thesis two case studies in Spanish rural areas were examined using quantitative and qualitative research methodologies such as SNA (Social Network Analysis) and in-depth interviews (Comarca de Las Vegas, Madrid, and Sierra de Albarracín, Teruel). Claudia has been involved in various research projects. These included projects of the National and R+D+I Plan, articles 83 (L.O.U.) and an Innovation Project. For example: CSO2016-75470-R PAITUR-Ciudad 2017-2019 “Historic Urban Landscape transformations induced by Tourism”, PTR-TUR-CM/S2015-HUM3317 2016-2018 “Heritage sites as tourism assets for the Community of Madrid” and for the Donostia-San Sebastián Tourism Plan: “Report on urban tourism strategies for sustainable growth in the city of San Sebastián-2017”.

In addition to her research, Claudia also has teaching experience as a Tutor at CES Felipe II in the department of Tourism, teaching courses on planning and management of tourism destinations, tourism in rural and natural areas and tourism public policy (2013/2014).

In the professional field, she collaborates with Santosantos Tourism Care Consulting in the destinations planning and management department. She has experience supporting the coordination of research as a Research Support Personnel. She has been a member of the team in charge of the Integrated Territorial Investment of Cádiz 2014-2020 Plan supported by the European Structural and Investment Funds. Also, she has been a member of the jury at the exam for Public Service (tour guides) in the Community of Madrid (2016).

In addition, she has also been an honorary collaborator in the Department of Human Geography and she has participated in various activities at the Université Montpellier 3 and the University of Murcia.
