Gemma Palomar García

Assistant Professor

I am an evolutionary biologist who uses genomics, disease ecology, and immunogenetics to investigate the processes that drive evolution and adaptation in amphibians. My ultimate goal is biodiversity conservation, and I am particularly concerned about emerging diseases, which are decimating amphibian populations. Currently, I am leading a project where we are studying the role of blood parasites in the dynamics of emerging diseases and we will try to understand the processes of coinfection in complex natural systems.
