Genetics has been a field that has interested me since the moment it appeared in the ESO syllabus. During my biology studies, I was fortunate enough to delve into the world of molecular genetics by studying different conifer species. Over the years, I have completed my thesis, in which I have combined population genetic structure analysis and association studies with both the environment and the phenotype. To do this, I have worked with NGS-based techniques that allow me to obtain a wide variety of molecular markers, specifically SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms), which can be used to carry out a wide range of studies. Determining from a genetic point of view how these species are able to respond to environmental variations is of great interest in order to understand the dynamics of populations in this context of change.
