Research Teams and Lines

Welcome to the group of "Dinámica de Sistemas Desordenados" (Dynamics of disordered systems) of the theoretical physics department.

Our main research interests are

  • Spin glasses systems
  • Machine Learning models from the statistical physics perspective
  • Disordered proteins
  • Application of statistical methods to cosmology

Where to find us.

Last News:

The Nobel Prize 2024 in physics has been awarded to Hopfield and Hinton ! Another Nobel for Statistical Physics, and one for its connection with Machine Learning! Both laureates are at the origin of the Hopfield model and Restricted Boltzmann Machines, subjects of particular interest in our group.

And the seminar given by Beatriz Seoane on the subject to the Physics department

Giovanni Catania, postdoc of the group, was invited in a workshop in Lausanne, given a talk on our last work on the perceptron.

Isidoro González-Adalid Pemartin. successfully defended his Phd Thesis: "MULTIFRACTALITY, EXOTIC DYNAMICS, SCALING AND QUANTUM PHASE TRANSITIONS IN COMPLEX SYSTEMS”.

Congratulations !

A large part of the group is at Institut Pascal for a three-weeks program: Probabilistic sampling for physics

A seminar from Víctor Martín-Mayor at the event: A day with Giorgio Parisi in honor of its Nobel Prize.

A seminar from Beatriz Seoane, keynote speaker at the MECO47 conference
