Maya Zalbidea Paniagua
Dr. Maya Zalbidea Paniagua is Assistant Professor of Literature from English Speaking Countries at Complutense University of Madrid. Her research interests include women literature, electronic literature, feminism, semiotics, myth criticism and psychoanalytic literary criticism. In her dissertation entitled “Reading and Teaching Gender Studies in Electronic Literature and New Media Art” analyzed femicide in Francesca da Rimini’s Dollspace, transgender fictions in Shu Lea Cheang’s Brandon as well as rape trauma and art as healing in Blueberries by Susan Gibb. Nowadays she is teaching “English Literature from 1800 to 1900” and “English Renaissance Theatre” and supervises final year projects within the field of feminism and gender studies in literature from English Speaking Countries.
She is member of the research group: Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation (SIIM) (led by Asunción López-Varela) associated with Aglaya Research Project “Strategies of Innovation in Cultural Mythcriticism” (led by José Manuel Losada Goya) (Complutense University of Madrid).
She worked as Visiting Scholar archiving the first collection of “International Electronic Literature by Women Authors 1986-2021” in ELMCIP Knowledge Base at the University of Bergen in 2013. She took part of the organizing committee of ELVA: The First International Conference on Electronic Literature and Virtual Art (Alcalá de Henares University, 2012) and “Woman’s Day” (Complutense University of Madrid, 2015).
She is editor of the Journal of Literature and Art Studies, reviewer of Digital Humanities Quarterly and took part of the international consultants’ team of Volume 3 of the Electronic Literature Organization (ELO) in 2017.
She has published 29 research publications and given more than 33 conferences about feminist literature, ecofeminism, cyberfeminism, electronic literature by women authors and intermedial analysis of literary works.

Maya Zalbidea Paniagua
Profesora Ayudante Doctora de literatura de países de habla inglesa de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Es Doctora en Filología Inglesa en la especialidad de Estudios Literarios y su tesis titulada “La lectura y la enseñanza de las cuestiones de género en la literatura electrónica y el arte de los nuevos medios” fue defendida en 2011. Sus áreas de investigación incluyen feminismo, literatura electrónica y crítica literaria psicoanalítica. Imparte clases de “Teatro renacentista inglés” y “Literatura inglesa de 1800 a 1900” y dirige Trabajos de Fin de Grado dentro del área de feminismo y estudios de género en literatura de países de habla inglesa.
Es miembro del grupo de investigación: “Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation” dirigido por Asunción López-Varela y beneficiario del Proyecto de investigación Aglaya “Strategies of Innovation in Cultural Mythcriticism”, liderado por José Manuel Losada Goya.
Fue investigadora visitante en la Universidad de Bergen y creó la primera colección de literatura electrónica de mujeres autoras dentro del proyecto ELMCIP (dirigido por Scott Rettberg). Formó parte del comité organizador de ELVA: The First International Conference on Electronic Literature and Virtual Art (Alcalá de Henares University, 2012) y “Woman’s Day” (Complutense University of Madrid, 2015).
Es editora de Journal of Literature and Art Studies, ha sido editora de Journal of Artistic Creation and Literary Research, es revisora del Digital Humanities Quarterly y formó parte del equipo internacional del tercer volumen de la Electronic Literature Organization (ELO) en 2017.
Ha publicado 29 publicaciones de investigación y ha dado más de 33 conferencias analizando la intermedialidad en obras literarias, literatura feminista, ecofeminismo, ciberfeminismo y literatura electrónica de mujeres autoras.
