Isabel Durán Giménez-Rico es Catedrática de Literatura Norteamericana y Decana de la Facultad de Filología de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). Ha sido Vicerrectora de Relaciones Internacionales de la UCM (2015-2019): Presidenta de SAAS (Spanish Association for American Studies) hasta 2019 y Directora del Depto. de Filología Inglesa II (2013-2015). También fue Vicedecana de Estudiantes de la Facultad de Filología de la UCM (2006-2010) y coordinadora del área de Humanidades de los Cursos de Verano de El Escorial. Ha sido miembro electo del General Council de ASA (American Studies Association 2008-2011) y miembro del International Committee de dicha asociación.

Su investigación y sus publicaciones sobre estudios de autobiografía, género, literatura femenina y etnicidad, incluyen la coedición de ocho volúmenes sobre estudios de género; el último, titulado Estudios De Género: Visiones Transatlánticas (2016), y el libro A Critical Gaze from the Old World: Transatlantic Perspectives on American Studies (2018), además de más de ochenta artículos y capítulos de libros. 

Isabel Durán es la Directora del Grupo de Investigación Complutense “Estudios de género en el ámbito de los países de habla Inglesa” (Grupo nº 941381). Ha dirigido 13 tesis doctorales y tiene 5 sexenios de investigación. Ha sido investigadora en la Universidad de Harvard a través del Real Colegio Complutense (2012) y en la Universidad de Santa Bárbara (2019) y ha sido becaria Fulbright (2000). Actualmente es la IP del Proyecto de Investigación “Gender and Pathography from a Transnational Perspective" (2021-2024).

Isabel Durán Giménez-Rico is Professor of North American Studies, and Dean of the School of Philology at the Complutense University (UCM). She was Vice-Provost for International Affairs from 2015 to 2019 (UCM). She was President of SAAS (Spanish Association for American Studies) until 2019, and Chair of the Department of English Philology II (2013-2015). She has been an elected member of the General Council of ASA (American Studies Association 2008-2011) and a member of the International Committee of that association.

 Her research and publication record on gender studies, literature, autobiography and ethnicity include the edition of an eight-volume Gender Studies collection (the last one being the bilingual Estudios De Género: Visiones Transatlánticas / Gender Studies: Transatlantic Visions (2016), and the book A Critical Gaze from the Old World: Transatlantic Perspectives on American Studies (2018), in addition to more than eighty articles and book chapters. 

Isabel Durán is the Director of the Complutense Research Group "Estudios de género en el ámbito de los países de habla Inglesa" (Gender Studies in the Anglophone World), and has just been a recipient of a Research Project entitled “Gender and Pathography from a Transatlantic Perspective (2021-2024). She has supervised 13 Doctoral dissertations. She has been a researcher at Harvard University through the Real Colegio Complutense (2012) and a research fellow at UC Santa Barbara (2019), and has been a Fulbright scholar (2000). She has lectured at various Spanish and international universities and institutions.
