Sofía Martinicorena Zaratiegui es investigadora predoctoral (FPU-2019) en el Departamento de Estudios Ingleses: Lingüística y Literatura de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Tras obtener el Grado en Estudios Ingleses por la Universidad Complutense (2017, Premio Extraordinario) y un Máster en Literatura de Estados Unidos por la Universidad de Edimburgo (2018, Distinction), financiado por una beca de posgrado “la Caixa”, actualmente se encuentra trabajando en su tesis doctoral bajo la dirección de Dámaso López García. Su investigación se centra en el imaginario espacial nacional en la narrativa estadounidense contemporánea, con un énfasis especial en los espacios geomíticos del Oeste americano y los suburbia. Sus áreas de interés académico comprenden el campo de los estudios de espacio y lugar (space and place), la ideología y mitología nacional, o la cultura popular estadounidense, entre otros.

Sofía Martinicorena Zaratiegui is a predoctoral fellow (FPU-2019) at the English Studies Department of the Complutense University of Madrid. After obtaining a degree in English from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2017, First-class Honours) and an MSc in US Literature from the University of Edinburgh (2018, Distinction), funded by a "la Caixa" Foundation postgraduate fellowship, she is currently working on her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Dámaso López García.  Her investigation concentrates on the national spatial imaginary in contemporary United States fiction, with a particular focus on the geo-mythic spaces of the US West and the suburbs. Her research interests range from space and place studies to national myth and ideology and US popular culture, among others.
