Azucena Barahona es doctora en Estudios Lingüísticos, Literarios y Teatrales (UAH), tiene un máster en Lingüística Aplicada (UJA) y es licenciada en Filología Inglesa (UCM). Es PDI en el Departamento de Estudios Ingleses (Facultad de Filología/Facultad de Geografía e Historia). Sus investigaciones se centran en la metodología de la lengua inglesa y, de forma más concreta, del inglés para fines específicos. Otras líneas incluyen el análisis de géneros discursivos, los entornos digitales y el desarrollo de materiales auténticos. También dirige su actividad investigadora hacia el estudio de la enseñanza bilingüe español-inglés, el español como lengua extranjera y el enfoque sociocultural e intercultural en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras. Ha impartido comunicaciones en congresos nacionales e internacionales y es autora de capítulos de libros en editoriales de prestigio y de artículos científicos en revistas nacionales e internacionales indexadas y con proceso anónimo de revisión por pares. Asimismo, ha participado en diferentes proyectos Innova-Docencia (actualmente es la investigadora principal del proyecto Creation of a Digital Repository for Teaching and Learning English for Specific Purposes, ha realizado movilidades Erasmus+ con fines docentes y de formación, es examinadora del DELE y evaluadora del SEPIE, entre otros. Es miembro de los grupos de investigación Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation y Discourse and Communication in English: Studies in Cognitive and Functional Linguistics.

Azucena Barahona holds a PhD in Linguistic, Literary, and Theatre Studies (UAH), a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics (UJA), and a Bachelor's degree in English Philology (UCM). She is a professor in the Department of English Studies at the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Geography and History. Her research focuses on English language teaching methodology, with particular emphasis on English for Specific Purposes. Other research interests include discourse genre analysis, digital learning environments, and the development of authentic instructional materials. Furthermore, her scholarly work extends to bilingual Spanish-English education, Spanish as a foreign language, and the sociocultural and intercultural approach to foreign language teaching and learning. She has delivered presentations at both national and international conferences and has authored book chapters published by prestigious academic publishers, as well as peer-reviewed articles in indexed national and international journals. Additionally, she has participated in various Innova-Docencia projects and currently serves as the lead researcher of the project Creation of a Digital Repository for Teaching and Learning English for Specific Purposes. She has also undertaken Erasmus+ mobility programs for teaching and training development. Moreover, she is a certified DELE examiner and an evaluator for SEPIE, among other roles. She is a member of the research groups Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation and Discourse and Communication in English: Studies in Cognitive and Functional Linguistics.
