Water-based primers

Our research group is actively developing water-based primers for aluminum, steel, and magnesium substrates as a sustainable alternative to traditional solvent-based coatings. These primers are being functionalized with advanced corrosion inhibitors, barrier-enhancing agents, and adhesion promoters to provide superior corrosion protection. Emphasis is placed on optimizing the formulation to ensure strong adhesion to diverse substrates while maintaining low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. Current studies focus on understanding the mechanisms of interaction between the functional components and the metallic surfaces, as well as evaluating their performance in aggressive environments. These efforts aim to deliver environmentally friendly, high-performance coatings tailored for industrial applications.
