Presentation

The Applied Optics Complutense Group represents the research and development activities in applied and engineering-oriented aspects of optics within the Complutense University of Madrid.

Our group is organized as specialized teams with demonstrated expertise in their respective fields. At the same time, there are multiple interconnections among the members of the group to solve specific problems and make efficient use of materials and human resources.

The main research and development areas in Applied Optics and Optical Engineering are:

  • Optical metrology, optical measurement and characterization.
  • Optical and photonic sensing in industry and biosciences.
  • Visual and ophthalmic optics.
  • Optical data processing and visualization.
  • Micro-optics and metasurfaces
  • Diffractive and resonant optics.
  • Optics and photonics for cultural inheritance conservation
  • Polarimetry

Since the beginning of the group in 2004, we have been actively involved in training new researchers and graduated students through PhD projects, and industry-oriented activities. These activities have been possible thanks to competitive grants from European, Spanish, and Regional funding bodies, and contracts with industrial associates. Some of these collaborations are with:
