David Castro Vázquez

I have a degree in Biology and a Master's Degree in Health Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid, where I discovered my passion for research. I am particularly interested in the study of intercellular communication systems, the biology of the joint microenvironment and its application in musculoskeletal pathologies. Throughout my career, I have learned that I not only enjoy designing and performing experiments, but also sharing scientific knowledge with people of all ages.

During my Bachelor Thesis, I investigated VIP receptors and thyroid hormones in Graves-Basedow disease. Later, in my Master's thesis, I focused on the effect of VIP on human osteoclast differentiation. Both projects were developed under the supervision of Professors Rosa P. Gomariz and Mar Carrión.

Currently, my PhD thesis focuses on the role of VIP as a regulator of cells in the bone microenvironment, also under the supervision of Mar Carrión and Rosa P. Gomariz. As part of this work, I made a research stay at the Centre for Translational Bone, Joint and Soft Tissue Research in Dresden, Germany, where I have been able to broaden my knowledge and methodologies in this field.
