Alicia Cabrera Martín
I graduated in Biology in 2019 at the Complutense University of Madrid. Throughout my studies, my interest in research grew, especially in the area of health biology, which led me to do a Master's Degree in Health Biology, also at the Complutense University of Madrid.
I did my Bachelor's Thesis on the pre-clinical assessment of the therapeutic potential of new cannabinoid agonists in Alzheimer's disease, under the supervision of Ángeles Martín and Nuria Campillo at the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas, and my Master's Thesis on the generation of molecular tools for the study of VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptor signalling pathways, under the supervision of Yasmina Juarranz and Irene Gutiérrez at the Complutense University of Madrid.
I am currently working on my PhD thesis on Characterisation of differences in VIP receptor signalling in human lymphocytes for clinical application in inflammatory/autoimmune pathologies, under the supervision of Yasmina Juarranz, Irene Gutiérrez and Raúl Villanueva. This research has allowed me to carry out a research stay at King's College London, UK, where I have been able to broaden my knowledge on the culture of regulatory T lymphocytes.
