Thermodynamics of Supramolecular polymerization
As in the case of organic molecules and covalent polymers, the mechanism governing the formation of such structures, play a relevant role in the final properties of the resulting structures. We are pretty much interested in the investigation of the mechamisms controlling the supramolecular polymerization of the aggregates formed upon self-assembly of the organic molecules synthesized in our group. These mechanisms can be simplified as isodesmic or equal-K and cooperative or nucleation-elongation. To perform such studies, we have utilized the mathematical models described for both of them by using different experimental techniques (concentration-dependent or variable-temperature spectroscopies techniques like UV-Vis, CD or 1H NMR).
