Self-assembly
The term “self-assembly” is defined by IUPAC as “spontaneous and reversible organization of molecular entities by noncovalent interactions”. In our resarch group, we design relatively simple organic molecules endowed with suitable functional groups to undergo self-assembly and yield functional, supramolecular entities. These supramolecular structures can exhibit enhanced optical, chiral or mechanical properties in comparison with the isolated building blocks.
To achieve these challenging goals we have fruitful collaborations with different research groups:
- Prof. Enrique Ortí, Universidad de Valencia;
- Prof. Pilar Prieto, Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha
- Prof. Juan Casado, Universidad de Málaga;
