Tony M. Vinci is an Associate Professor of English at Ohio University and author of Ghost, Android, Animal: Trauma and Literature Beyond the Human (2020). His publications examine how posthumanist theories of ethics and embodiment necessarily reframe our understanding of the traumatic, especially as narrated in popular and canonical American literature. His current project, Speculative Sentimentalities and Abcanny Affects: Posthumanist Reading Practices for the End of All Worlds, expands this line of inquiry to analyze how contemporary sf estranges dominant models of feeling and affect, establishing new and capacious models of care in response to personal, social, and ecological catastrophes.
