Paula Lobato Díez holds a Bachelor Degree in English Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s Degree in EFL Teacher Training for Secondary Education (Distinction) from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She enjoyed an Erasmus+ Scholarship at Maynooth University (2019, Ireland), where she was given the opportunity to take part in their “Irish Cultural Heritage Certificate”, oriented toward Irish archeology, mythology and literature. In 2023 she joined the Erasmus Traineeeship Programme as a Teaching and Research Intern at Bologna University (Department of Translation and Interpretation), where she taught discussion classes for a total of 24h to three different groups of students in the module “Voices, Stories, Englishes”.

During her Master of EFL Teacher Training, she received a UAM excellence scholarship to initiate postgraduate studies and was granted a Collaboration Scholarship at the Department of Philologies and their Didactic (2021-2022, Spanish Ministry of Education). There, she developed and published two texts books meant to foster ICC in non-bilingual Baccalaureate students through original literary works. This initiative was also framed within her Master’s Dissertation, which was the best of its promotion.

In June 2022, she published her first paper in the field of Literary Research with JACLR, where she has become Editor Assistant after having carried out the tasks of a peer reviewer and CM for almost two years. In the last few years, Paula has been a panellist in several national academic conferences, was a Project Manager for the student-led event “Sound and Vision: 100 Years of the BBC in Berlin” and recently has joined the German Association for British Studies. In February 2024, she had a book chapter entitled “Interculturality Through Non-Adapted Literary Works In Non-Bilingual Secondary Education Classes: Utopia Or Reality In Spain” published in the book Ámbitos y perspectivas actuales en linguïstica y literatura (ISBN 978-84-1369-615-7) by Comares (6^th in the latest SPI ranking of editorial prestige).

She is currently carrying out research for a MA in British Studies (2022-2024) in the Centre for British Studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin. Her research dissertation, entitled “Trauma and resilience through the decades: artistic responses to the legacy of the Magdalene laundries in Ireland” delves into in the history of Ireland during the colonial period and since independence. Her proposal dwells on the recent and well-publicised scholarly work on the exploitation of ‘fallen women’ in 19th and 20th century Ireland, but chooses a new angle, namely, how the legacy of this tragedy has been represented in art and thus how it is perceived by different generations. In the academic year 2024/2025, Paula will return to the Complutense University to pursue PhD studies in order to deepen her knowledge on the phenomenon of Brexit and the literary genre of Imperial Gothic.

Paula Lobato Díez es Graduada en Estudios Ingleses por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y posee un Máster en Formación de Profesorado de Inglés como Lengua Extranjera para Educación Secundaria por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Durante sus años de grado disfrutó de una Beca Erasmus+ en la Universidad de Maynooth (2019, Irlanda), donde formó parte de las clases del “Certificado de Patrimonio Cultural Irlandés”, diseñado para profundizar en arqueología, mitología y literatura irlandesas. En 2023, fue becaria en la Universidad de Bolonia (Departamento de Traducción e Interpretación) gracias al programa Erasmus Prácticas, donde impartió un total de 24h de clase a tres grupos diferentes de la asignatura “Voices, Stories, Englishes”.

Durante su Máster en Formación del Profesorado recibió una beca de excelencia de la UAM para iniciar estudios de posgrado y obtuvo una Beca de Colaboración en el Departamento de Filologías y su Didáctica (2021-2022, Ministerio de Educación de España). Allí desarrolló y publicó dos libros de texto destinados a fomentar la Competencia Intercultural en estudiantes de Bachillerato no bilingües a través de obras literarias originales no adaptadas. Esta iniciativa también se enmarcó dentro de su Trabajo Fin de Máster, que fue el mejor de su promoción.

En junio de 2022, publicó su primer artículo en el campo de la investigación literaria en el JACLR, donde recientemente ha adoptado la posición de Editor Assistant después de haber desempeñado las tareas de revisora ​​y CM durante casi dos años. En los últimos tiempos, Paula ha sido panelista en varias conferencias académicas nacionales, fue Project Manager para el evento dirigido por estudiantes "Sonido y visión: 100 años de la BBC en Berlín" y recientemente se ha unido a la Asociación Alemana de Estudios Británicos. En febrero de 2024 publicó un capítulo de libro titulado “Interculturalidad a través de obras literarias no adaptadas en clases de educación secundaria no bilingüe: utopía o realidad en España” en la monografía Ámbitos y perspectivas actuales en linguïstica y literatura (ISBN 978-84- 1369-615-7) de Comares (6º en el último ranking SPI de prestigio editorial).

Actualmente está finalizando su Master en Estudios Británicos (2022-2024) en el Centro de Estudios Británicos de la Universidad Humboldt de Berlín. Su tesis de investigación, titulada “Trauma y resiliencia a través de las décadas: respuestas artísticas al legado de las Magdalene Laundries en Irlanda” profundiza en la historia irlandesa durante el período colonial y tras la independencia. Su propuesta se centra en el trabajo académico reciente y muy publicitado sobre la explotación de las "mujeres caídas" en la Irlanda de los siglos XIX y XX, pero elige un nuevo ángulo: cómo se ha representado en el arte el legado de esta tragedia y, por tanto, cómo este es percibido por diferentes generaciones.

En el curso académico 2024/2025, Paula regresará a la Universidad Complutense para realizar estudios de doctorado con el objetivo de profundizar en el fenómeno del Brexit y el género literario del Gótico Imperial.
