Jaime Segura San Miguel is substitute lecturer in Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where he is finishing his doctoral research with a thesis on the effects that the sociocultural aspects of the Enlightenment had on the rise of the Gothic aesthetic, the epistemological configuration of the field of psychiatry, and the representations of madness. He is member of the International Gothic Association and of Asteria, Association of Myth Criticism, and also a member of SIIM (Studies on Intermediality and Interculturality Mediation). Before his current position in UCM, he had been lecturing for Antonio de Nebrija University and UDIMA (Madrid Open University) for five years, a professional endeavour he has complemented with a research Master’s of Gothic Studies in the Manchester Centre for Gothic Studies, the most salient research institution for the Gothic on a global level, and a MAES at Antonio de Nebrija University. Jaime Segura San Miguel es profesor sustituto en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, donde está acabando sus estudios de doctorado con una tesis sobre la influencia de la Ilustración y sus dimensiones socioculturales en el auge del Gótico, la configuración epistemológica del campo psiquiátrico, y las representaciones de la locura. Es miembro de la Asociación de Gótico Internacional (IGA), Asteria, Asociación de Mito Crítica, y también miembro del proyecto SIIM de estudios en mediación de Intermedialidad e Interculturalidad. Antes de ejercer su cargo docente en UCM, ha trabajado cinco años de profesor asociado para la Universidad a Distancia de Madrid y la Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, una labor profesional que complementó con un MAES en Antonio de Nebrija y un Master de Estudios del Gótico en el Centro de Estudios del Gótico de Manchester, la institución de investigación en Gótico más puntera y relevante actualmente.
