Gesa Stedman
Gesa Stedman heads the culture and literature department at the Centre for British Studies, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, which she also directs. Her research interests include the Victorian discourse on emotions, early-modern cultural exchange, gender history, and the contemporary literary field in the UK. Her project on British writers in early 20th-century Berlin entitled “Happy in Berlin? English Writers in the City”, conducted with Stefano Evangelista (Oxford), focused on female agents, translators, and writers. Currently she is exploring a new line of research which looks at life cycles, ageing, and gendered loneliness in Anglophone literary texts from the 19th-21st centuries.
