LECTURE
Teaching will consist of a combination of formats i.e. : lectures, hands-on workshops, responsive teaching classes, case reports.
Students are expected to be present, demonstrate active participation during contac hours and prepare courses in case of responsive teaching sessions

Objetivos

COURSE OBJECTIVES


At the end of this course students will be able to:

1.       Learn and understand the most important historical methods and trends

2.       Acquire tools for critical historical analysis

3.       Identify different historical interpretative schools.

4.       Identify sources, methods and trends in historical studies

5.       Compare ideas and hypothesis as they appear in the specialized literature, in order to ascertain their relevance

Present orally and in writing the acquired knowledge and the ideas elaborated on it.

Contenido

CONTENT

1. What is History? What is it for? History in the making: the European tradition.

2. European methods of Historical Research

3. Principal European trends of Historical Research

4. Working with historical sources: how to build a historical narrative into the European tradition

5. The social role of historians in Europe

Evaluación

ASSESSMENT

1. Practical sessions: 40%.
2. Written paper or exam (both options will be offered): 50%.
3. Attendance and Participation: 10%.
