Who are we?
The Department of Economic Analysis is the result of the merger of the Department of Economic Analysis I (Economic Analysis) and the Department of Economic Analysis II (Quantitative Economics). It is a Department with a long tradition (see its history below).
It is located on the third floor of the first-year building of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences, on the Somosaguas Campus of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM); however, some offices of the Department are located on the first floor of the same building, and on the third floor of the third-year building of the same Faculty.
The Department is responsible for teaching different subjects of Mathematics, Economic Theory and Econometrics of the degrees in Economics (ECO), Business Administration and Management (ADE) and Finance, Banking and Insurance (FBS); and in the double degrees in Economics-Mathematics and Statistics, Economics and International Relations, Law-ADE, ADE-Computer Engineering and Management and Public Administration-Economics. Likewise, some courses are taught in the double international degrees of Business Administration (UCM-HWR Berlin University) and Economics (UCM-Université Paris Sorbonne); and in the Economics and Business Administration Degrees in English of the UCM.
We are an active part in different Postgraduate programs and several official Master's degrees at the UCM:
We participate in the Banking and Quantitative Finance Postgraduate Program, taught jointly with the Universities of Castilla la Mancha, the Basque Country and Valencia. This program, which has received the ANECA Quality Mention, is made up of the Master's Degree in Quantitative Banking and Finance (which lasts 2 years) and the Doctorate in Quantitative Banking and Finance. We also participate in the Faculty's Doctoral Program in Economics.
Regarding Master's degrees, we participate jointly with other departments of the Faculty of CC. Economics and Business, in the University Master in Economics, the Master in Actuarial and Financial Sciences, the Master in Business Finance, the Master in Logistics and Economic Management of Defense. We also teach in the Master in Mathematical Engineering, dependent on the Faculty of Mathematics.
The department is linked to the Institute of Economic Analysis (ICAE), which is a research center of the Complutense University of Madrid created at the initiative of a group of specialized professors in Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Monetary and Financial Economics, Econometrics and Mathematics.
The research work carried out by the department's teaching staff has resulted in numerous publications in scientific journals and working documents, as well as participation in research and consulting projects financed by public and private entities. The Department organizes weekly research seminars in collaboration with ICAE, in which Spanish and foreign researchers present the results of their most recent work in Economic Theory, Econometrics and Finance.
