Experimental Animals

The relevance of our evolutionary analysis is based on the comparison of different amniote and anamniote models at different points of the evolutionary scale. We conduct analyses on turtles (Trachemys and Pseudemys genera), amphibians (anurans and urodeles), lungfishes (Protopterus and Neoceratodus) and various basal actinopterygian fish models such as polypteriformes (Polypterus and Erpetoichthys), chondrosteans (Acipenser) and holosteans (Lepisosteus and Amia).

This range of species represents well the diversity of vertebrate brains at key moments in evolution.
