Climate Change over Sahel

In this seminary, I present a summary of the outputs regarding climate change over Sahel from the AMMA-2050 project (2016-2019). The goal of this project was to build on the largest multidisciplinary research effort ever undertaken in the area of African climate and environment, the African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis (AMMA), to address the challenges of understanding how the monsoon will change in future decades, and how this information can be most effectively used to support climate-compatible development in the region. Researchers conducted in the AMMA-2050 project has been based on CMIP5 biascorrected simulations and convective coupled regional model in addition to observations. I will address regional changes in temperatures (min and max) rainfall and others rainfall metrics such us extreme, length of the season etc. Sensitivity of key economic sectors like agriculture to these changes will be also presented.
