Mª Ángeles Jurado-Bravo holds a PhD in English Linguistics (UCM). She graduted in English Philology (Highest Grades Award) at the Universidad de Zaragoza and she took an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Secondary Education at the same university.
Her PhD dissertation was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education (FPU2013). Her PhD dissertation deals with the pronunciation of Spanish speakers of English under an English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) approach. More specifically, she studied the intelligibility problems Spanish speakers of English present when speaking the foreign language and the degree of intelligibility improvement after taking a short course on English pronunciation.
Her main areas of interest are English phonetics and phonology, dialectology (especially foreign accents and attitudes towards accents), dialectometry, the teaching of English pronunciation and English as a Lingua Franca (ELF).
Since 2019, Maria Ángeles Jurado-Bravo is a lecturer at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid (Spain).
