Welcome to the ICEI+ Blog

Director Antonio Jesús Sánchez Fuentes

20/06/2024

This message serves to welcome readers to the newly created "ICEI+" Blog, a long-standing aspiration of the ICEI's current and past leadership that has now become a reality. This achievement is the result of months of collective reflection and the dedicated work of its future coordinator, our affiliated researcher, Andrea Carrera.[1]

Founded in 1997, nearly 30 years ago, the ICEI is a multidisciplinary research institute at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). It is primarily focused on international studies from a broad social sciences perspective.

Our aim is to offer a cross-cutting approach to economics and business, international relations, sociology, political science, and legal studies. This approach allows us to advance toward a more comprehensive understanding of the key thematic areas defined by our Board of Directors.

Building on the new knowledge generated through our advanced research, we facilitate knowledge transfer via technical assistance initiatives, specialized studies, and training programs. Along these lines, we also promote and organize international events and conferences, all in continuous collaboration with public and private institutions at both the national and international levels.

This initiative aligns with our strategic objectives for the coming years. It reflects our commitment to exploring new formats that enhance the dissemination and visibility of the results achieved by our researchers. In today’s context, where social media plays a key role in academic knowledge transfer, this blog becomes an essential tool.

Ultimately, I/we am/are deeply convinced that the upcoming blog entries will highlight the outstanding work carried out by our Institute's researchers. This will enable us to make a greater and more meaningful contribution to the design and implementation of public policies, both nationally and internationally. For this reason, I encourage you to follow the posts published here with interest.

[1] We would also like to express our gratitude to Silvia Faura Fernández, an intern whose fundamental contributions made the effective launch of this initiative possible.
