It develops activities to advance knowledge of innovation and technological change and their relationship with economic dynamics and social welfare, both at the macroeconomic level of countries and areas, as well as at the level of individual companies and organisations.

It addresses research, teaching and institutional collaboration at international, national and regional level and studies of the dynamics of innovative activity, with a theoretical and applied approach. It also analyses the institutional framework in which entrepreneurial activity takes place.

It is linked to the UCM's "Economics and Innovation Policy" research group.
