According to the latest statistics published by the General Council of the Judiciary of Spain (CGPJ), the European Small Claims procedures held in Spain fell by 9.3% in 2017. The decrease in this type of procedure has been occurring for several years and follows the same trend that national procedures.
As said by the Panorama of Justice 2017, the Spanish regions in which more European Small Claims procedures were held, were Madrid, Catalonia and the Valencian Community, followed by Andalusia and the Balearic Islands. The regions where fewer trials were held were Navarra, Cantabria, Extremadura and Asturias.
The European Small Claims procedures only represented a scant 0.12% of the total number of Small Claims procedures held in Spain in 2017 (506,076 cases).
