Arte y poder en el siglo XI. Las taifas andalusíes en el contexto mediterráneo

Resumen 

Se estima necesario un estudio sobre los primeros Reinos de Taifas, concretamente el arte y la arquitectura palatina, que tanta importancia tuvieron a lo largo de toda esta centuria debido al altísimo número de soberanos que había por toda la geografía andalusí. Cada uno de ellos reinterpretó el lenguaje artístico heredado del Califato y lo desarrolló según sus propias formas, siendo muchas de ellas producto del influjo comercial mediterráneo con otros reinos, tanto cristianos como musulmanes. Así, uno de los principales objetivos de la investigación sería analizar las relaciones que mantuvo cada reino taifa tanto con el resto de al-Andalus como con otros pueblos exteriores, como fue el Egipto fatimí. Pero, sin lugar a dudas, una de las cuestiones fundamentales a tratar de resolver es la consideración de este arte taifa: ¿consecuencia final del Califato o nuevas formas artísticas?

Gracias a las fuentes literarias relativas a este siglo y los restos materiales conservados, se tratará de llevar a cabo una revisión historiográfica y una propuesta sobre cómo se organizaban las cortes, los modos de representación, el adorno de los espacios, los objetos de lujo y su significado, etc. Todo ello para tratar de discernir cuál era el papel que desempeñaban los reyes taifas dentro de la historia social del poder en el siglo XI.

Art and power in the 11th century. The Andalusí Taifa Kingdoms in the Mediterranean context

Abstract

It is believed necessary to carry out a study on the palatine art and architecture from the first Taifa Kingdoms due to the high number of sovereigns who reigned throughout the Andalusian geography. Each of them reinterpreted the inherited artistic language of the Caliphate and developed it according to their own forms, many of which were influenced by the Mediterranean commerce with other kingdoms, both Christian and Muslim. For that reason, one of the main objectives of this research is to analyse the relationships that each Taifa Kingdom kept with both the rest of al-Andalus and other foreign peoples such as the Fatimid Egypt. Nevertheless, one of the most important issues that will be addressed in this research is whether this Taifa art was a result of the Caliphate or new art forms.

Through the literary sources related to this century and the preserved materials, a historiographical review and a proposal on how the courts are organized, modes of representation, the ornament of space, luxury objects and their meaning, etc. will be conducted; all this to discern what the role of the Taifa kings was in the social history of power during the eleventh century.
