La iluminación del espacio litúrgico medieval en los reinos cristianos hispánicos

Resumen

A lo largo de la Edad Media la liturgia católica se desarrolló progresivamente sobre espacios de celebración más grandes y más complejos. Las técnicas constructivas y el pensamiento cristiano interactuaron sobre la luz natural hasta llegar a desmaterializar los muros del edificio y convertirlos en gigantes pantallas de imágenes vibrantes. El presente estudio pretende analizar esta evolución de la iluminación natural en la iglesia medieval partiendo de las características y funciones de las primeras aperturas murales practicadas en los templos cristianos españoles altomedievales que han llegado a nosotros.

The Medieval Lighting of the liturgical space in the Hispanic Christian kingdoms

Abstract

Throughout the Middle Ages the Catholic liturgy progressively developed larger and more complex on the celebration spaces. The construction techniques and Christian ethos interacted on the natural light until the building"s walls dematerialize and transform them into giant screens of vibrant images. The present study aims to analyze this evolution of natural lighting in the medieval church starting from the characteristics and functions of the first wall openings practiced in the early medieval Spanish Christian Temples that have come to us.
