Full Professor of Chemical Engineering, Félix García-Ochoa has been related with Complutense University of Madrid since 1973. He was co-director of Biotechnology Master of Complutense University (from 1988 to 1995), as well as director and co-director of various seminars and formation courses, Summer Seminars of Complutense Univerity of Madrid and actualization and formation sessions for high school teachers (from 1991 to 2001). He had several stays in other universities during his tenure, such as Erlangen (Germany), Swansea, (United Kingdom), Wageningen (Holland), Manchester (United Kingdom), Edinburgh (United Kingdom), Salto (Argentina) and Pittsburgh (United States).
He has published more than 200 articles on national and international publications, from which more than 140 in international high impact journals related to the fields of Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering and Environmental sciences. As well, he has more than 180 communications in national and international Congresses and four patented inventions in the field of biotechnological processes. He has written more than 100 confidential reports for several corporations, as a part of more than 20 collaboration agreements. He has acted as a reviewer for more than 15 journals and is a member of the Editorial Comitee of ‘Química e Industria’.
He has participated on research projects, grants and scholarships evaluation for different national and international entities, such as Plan Nacional I+D, ANEP, Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia, European Union, Agencia Argentina de evaluación, Agencia de Evaluación de Costa Rica, Nacional Science Foundation of United States, National Research Foundation of South Africa, and many autonomous communities such as Madrid, Asturias, Galicia, Pais Vasco and Canarias.
He had been member of Evaluation Comities an Work Groups in the elaboration of IV and VI ‘Plan Nacional de I+D, Área de “Procesos y Productos Químicos”’ (1995, 2003, 2006), and for the ‘Plan Estatal de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación’ (2013-2017). He was Manager of the program ‘Tecnología de los Procesos Químicos’ within the V ‘Plan Nacional de I+D, Programa de Ciencia y Tecnología Química, and Coordinator’, and was Chair of the Commission ‘Seguimiento del V Plan Nacional de I+D, Programa de Ciencia y Tecnología Químicas’ (2007).
He was General Subdirector of Research Projects, in the Research General Management, within Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (2007-2008), and was a member of the Research General Management and National R+D Program Management, within the same institution (2008-2010). After that, he was Research General Management assessor for this institution (2011).
He collaborated in the management and organisation of many different scientific congresses, such as Chief of the Scientific Committee of the World Congress of Chemical Engineering (Barcelona 2017), and member of the Executive Organisation Committee and Scientific Committee of the 4th European Congress of Chemical Engineering (ECCE-4). He was also expert witness in Energetic and Industrial Chemistry for Court Justice (2005-2007), and was designated as Spanish delegate for the Working Party of Process Intensification of ECCE (2006-2008).
