Sarissa Carneiro
Sarissa Carneiro Araujo is a PhD in Literature and a professor in the literature department of the Faculty of Languages at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She has been head researcher of several projects in the area of colonial studies, mainly from Chile, Brazil and the Viceroyalty of Peru, with an emphasis on the rhetorical and poetic dimensions of writing in America. She is author of the book Retórica del infortunio: persuasión, deleite y ejemplaridad en el siglo XVI (2015) and editor of dossiers and monographic volumes of specialized journals. She has published various studies on Pedro de Oña, among which are her edition of Temblor de Lima y otros poemas al Marqués de Montesclaros (2018) and the book Poesía y censura en América virreinal. El caso del proceso contra Arauco domado de Pedro de Oña (Fondo de Cultura Económica, 2022). Her research has also addressed the inter-artistic overlapping that links the poetic, rhetorical and visual arts of the 16th and 17th centuries, with special attention to pictorial-poetic portraiture, emblematic and heroic poetry. She is currently Head of the Doctorate in Literature at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
