Mercedes González Sanmamed
Chair of Didactics and School Organisation at the Universidad de A Coruña. Doctorate in Education Sciences with Extraordinary Award for Degree and Doctorate Studies. She has served as the Director of the CUFIE (University Training and Educational Innovation Centre) at the Universidad de A Coruña and the Ourense Lifelong Teacher Training Centre.
Her lines of research focus on teacher training and consultancy in education, integration of ICT and innovation, and educational improvement. She has been the director of the EIRA research group since it was founded in 2006 (G000585).
She has taken part in 40 competitive projects and research contracts internationally (Erasmus, Leonardo, Comenius), nationally (MINECO, Department of Universities, CIDE) and regionally (Regional Government of Galicia, School Council of Galicia), coordinating 18 of these projects. She is currently the lead researcher on the project entitled: Ecologías de aprendizaje en la era digital: nuevas oportunidades para la formación del profesorado de educación secundaria (RTI2018-095690-B-I00), funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, involving researchers from the universities of A Coruña, Granada, Murcia, Jaén, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
Director of 17 doctoral theses, 6 of them with an international mention, and 3 with an Extraordinary Award.
Her research results have been presented in over 250 publications as author or co-author. Half of these publications were made in established journals, indexed with a quality index and referenced in international databases (23 articles in journals with a GCR index, 13 of them in position Q1, and another 26 articles in Scopus journals with SJR index). She has also published 22 books and 118 book chapters, several of them with foreign publishing houses.
Participant at numerous congresses, seminars and gatherings, presenting 50 guest addresses, 15 conferences and 140 communications. Most of these were international events, many of them being staged outside Spain.
She has produced various Technical Reports for public and private institutions (Regional Government of Galicia, AENOR, OEI, ACSUG, Chamber of Commerce of Chile, UNED in Costa Rica, Andrés Bello Convention), and been involved as a consultant on international projects addressing topics of quality assurance and educational improvement.
She has completed both teaching and research placements of varying durations in Austria, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands and Panama.
She has delivered Courses, Seminars and Workshops for organisations nationally (Xunta de Galicia, Universidad de A Coruña, Universidad de Granada, Universita Oberta de Catalunya, Universidad de Oviedo, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela) and internationally (Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Dominican Republic; ISFODOSU of the Dominican Republic; UNED of Costa Rica, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, the Government of Italy, Créteil Strasbourg, ULBRA in Brazil). Member of the editorial board of various journals.
She has also served as President and Board Member on programs for the evaluation of teaching staff, qualifications and research projects at such Quality Evaluation Agencies as ANECA, ACSUG, AVAP, UNIBASC, AEI, ANEP and AGAUR.
