Juan Carlos Díez Fernández-Lomana
Full Professor of Prehistory at University of Burgos, where he has been teaching since 1997. He obtained a PhD in Prehistory with an Extraordinary Prize at UCM (1992). He was subsequently Chercheur Associé at the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) Aix-en-Provence (France), enjoying various contracts at the Spanish National Archaeological Museum, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the Spanish National Natural Science Museum in Madrid. The majority of his research has been tied to the Atapuerca project (1980-2010). He has also led excavations and systemic explorations in Burgos, Guadalajara, Palencia and Granada, has engaged in international projects in Algeria, France, Morocco and Argentina, and has extensive scientific experience that he has shared via partnerships on radio, in the press, editing and conferences. He is the author of over 90 scientific articles, 39 of them international; a dozen books and some 30 book chapters. He has spoken at more than 50 conferences. His teaching work has included overseeing seven doctoral dissertations and giving master’s degree and PhD courses at Universidad de Burgos, Universidad de Salamanca, Universidad de Autónoma de Barcelona, Universidad Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona, Universidad de Cádiz and Universidad del País Vasco. He is a Faculty Evaluator of the Ministerial Agency and of indexed national and international magazines.
